When Lilac was being tortured by Brevon, Torque's resolve quickly faded, showing that he cares greatly about her well-being. He did not like the idea of getting civilians involved in a galactic conflict, but once he saw her, Carol and Milla in action, he quickly changed his mind. Though he may not be the most powerful of his three allies, his relationships and heart for them prove otherwise.Īt first Torque was reluctant to open up to Lilac, it was not until he was revealed as an alien that he explained the whole situation. Ultimately, Commander Torque possesses a heroic, to-the-point demeanor, not hesitating to take action even if the stakes are raised. He shows care to Team Lilac, when he rescues Milla after she was injured by Brevon, and admits the fate of the other Chasers while witnessing Lilac being tortured. A headstrong commander, Torque even follows Brevon to try and stop his conquest of Avalice. His skill in tech possibly comes from his previous alliances with the Coalition of Planets, whose disappearance gave him great regret due to not being able to save his team. Several instances in the game, he is shown to be very clever in gadgets and technology, and is a skilled pilot, even when flying in one of Avalice's planes. Torque mainly has a laid back, calm personality, but he is also self-sacrificing. As a shellduck, Torque wears a black/gray turtle shell, brown gloves and a yellow duck beak over his face. He wears a black space suit orange/gray armor, orange boots, gray gloves and orange pilot goggles. Torque is an alien with dark blue eyes, a light-green body and hair of the same color. Together, Torque and his new crew sets out to stop Lord Brevon from stealing the Kingdom Stone and plunging the Three Kingdoms of Avalice into a Civil War. But since he was the only remaining Chaser, he needed help to stop Brevon and his army, help he received from a group of young girls called Team Lilac. Upon arriving on Avalice, he disguised himself as a Shellduck to hide his alien appearance. Torque swore to his dying Captain that he will stop Brevon from stealing the Kingdom Stone for his galactic conquest. During the battle, his Captain and entire crew were all killed and/or corrupted by Brevon. Prior to the events of Freedom Planet, Torque and a squadron of Chasers were locked in a space battle with Brevon's Dreadnought, which was en route to Planet Avalice to steal the Planet's main (and only) source of energy: the Kingdom Stone. But it is certain that there is more to Torque’s life than we have seen so far.Torque is a Commander and the last known surviving member of the Spectrum Chasers, a battle-force formed by a Coalition of Planets to protect the Galaxy from galactic threats such as Lord Brevon. Or if possible that he was strong before but refusing to say a word killed off his entire crew, we don’t know, and we might not know for a while. We are not sure if it’s perhaps its that very weak heart that caused his last crew to perish, and that’s why he broke down. ![]() Lastly, Torque, little can be said about him because we only so little, but we knew at this moment, that he was trying his best to be brave and strong hearted, like a leader should be, but broke down when Lilac screamed out in pain. To always stand by your cause no matter how painful it gets. This was critical for Lilac as well, we could tell Lilac was a good hero, who stood by her passion and goals to save her homeworld, she loved it so much, she withstood dismemberment, and electrocution to prove her resolve she is everything that Brevon despises. Her part in this moment, is a player’s sign of hope, and courage. ![]() What would be the point of breaking that chaotic kind of evil, by just holding them hostage and doing nothing but threats? Would that really make for a good villain? Especially when he has already gone so far? No.Īs you get farther into the game, he does something far worse than that… he’s not a kid’s idea of a villain, he is a nightmare with no mercy or sense of justice. Then cutting down all of the rogue warriors who stormed the castle, BY HIMSELF. The scene was the biggest message on the 3 central plot characters personalities, Lilac’s resolve, Brevon’s malicious behavior, and Torque’s weak heart.įrom the beginning of the game, we knew Brevon had no issues with killing or bending people to his will, this is shown through beheading the King of Shuigang in front of the beaten and submissive Dail, who he then brainwashes in order to gain the use of his army while he works behind the scenes. I believe it was necessary, and altering the scene would ruin the central message behind it all. First off, I cannot speak on behalf of anyone else on the team, but I will give my own opinion on this.
